So you’re a woman and are looking for bike clothing, but you don’t want something that is pink/lilac/teal with swirls or flowers or butterflies. Good luck! Why does every company ever (even the ones run by women) think that that is what all women want? Some of us just want to look like normal people, wearing normal people clothes, but still have the comfort and practical benefits of clothing that is designed for use on a bike. We want to ride our bikes, and not get weird looks when we walk into work or a bar after the ride.
Look for a post later on how to shop for regular clothes that will work well on a bike. But for now, here’s a round up of some clothing that is bicycle purpose driven, and not the same as everything you see in every bike shop. Click an image below to go to pinterest for description and links!
And if you’re tired of companies like Levi’s and Giro releasing commuter or urban lines but not including anything for women, take the time to call or send emails saying so! Let them know that women are customers with money who really ride too. The more ruckus you raise, the more likely it’ll be that we are included in the next line release. Make yourself heard!
While we’re in the super minority though, we need to stick together. Leave a comment below or email with any other cute but not-pink cycling clothes you’ve found that I’ve left off the list. I’ll keep the pinterest board updated with relevant links. See you on the streets!
